A First Advent with connections for Innsbruck Airport: Within a few hours, two new first flights from Madrid and Warsaw were welcomed. With the warm celebration, musical accompaniment and traditional reception, these flights not only marked an expansion of the route network, but also a significant strengthening of Tyrol’s tourist and economic connections.
The first highlight of the day was the arrival of Iberia flight IB801 from Madrid. With 67 passengers on board the Airbus A320neo at 9:13 a.m. in brilliant winter weather. This new notification, offered on Wednesdays and Sundays until March 26, 2025, connects Innsbruck to the Madrid hub. Madrid Airport is not only a major hub for European travelers, but also opens doors to North and South America.
Carmen Giraud, Sales Manager Europe at Iberia, underlined the strategic importance of this connection: “Innsbruck is now our third destination in Austria and the 143rd in the global network. With 11,500 seats available this winter season, we expect strong demand from Spanish guests and Tyrol travelers alike.”
Iberia’s membership in the oneworld alliance and the International Airline Group (IAG), which also includes British Airways, opens up a wide range of combination options for international air travel.
A Polish welcome from Warsaw
The second inaugural flight followed in the afternoon: at 3:12 p.m. a Boeing 737-800 aircraft from LOT Polish Airlines landed in Innsbruck with 63 passengers from Warsaw. The connection will be offered until March 30, 2025 and offers another option for Polish guests who choose Tyrol as their winter holiday destination. Pollen is one of the top 10 origin markets for Tyrol, which underlines the economic and tourist potential of this route.
Marco Pernetta, Managing Director of Innsbruck Airport, expressed his enthusiasm: “These two connections are milestones for our airport and show that Innsbruck remains attractive not only for tourists, but also for new business partners.”
In addition, Tyrolean travelers will also benefit from the new connection, as Warsaw Airport serves as a hub for a variety of international destinations.
New perspectives for the winter flight schedule
In addition to the first flights from Madrid and Warsaw, Innsbruck Airport will continue to expand its route network in the next few weeks. These highlights include:
- Austrian Airlines: From December 7th, another connection to Warsaw and from December 21st, a new connection to Brussels.
- Eurowings: Hamburg connection increased to five weekly flights from December 16th.
- EasyJet: Launch of a new service to Birmingham, every Sunday from December 15th.
