The Dutch airline KLM and the railway operator Thalys are further expanding their cooperation on the Amsterdam-Brussels route. The airline reserves additional seats for its passengers on the four daily rail connections. These will be available from March 26, 2023.
In the previous year, KLM tested the acceptance of the rail connection as an alternative to traditional feeder flights. Apparently one is satisfied with the result, because in summer 2023 the Dutch carrier wants to offer significantly more seats in the Thalys trains, which will appear as Eurostar around autumn 2023.
KLM is a strong supporter of the Dutch Rail and Air Services Action Plan, which aims to expand international train travel to six major destinations (Brussels, Paris, London, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Berlin) as an alternative to flying. The action plan was drawn up at the end of 2020 by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Dutch railway network operator ProRail, KLM and NS Dutch Railways. KLM’s approach to sustainability focuses on increasing emissions and noise pollution, and the continuous development of the air/rail product is part of this effort.

We remain committed to ensuring a seamless journey for our customers and making rail an increasingly better alternative to air travel on short-haul routes in Europe. We work closely with our partners to achieve the necessary improvements for our customers,” said Boet Kreiken, Executive Vice President Customer Experience KLM.
